"Originally bought timeshare in 1998 for one week. Then converted the week to points, plus bought additional points with Diamond Resorts. Cannot afford the maintenance any more."
"Hi, we signed CLC contract August last year and soon realised it wasn't beneficial to us. We called to cancel but we're told to go and find a buyer to purchase it. This is unbearable, please help. Thanks."
"Wish to cancel our Club La costa timeshare due to High maintenance fees and no availability when trying to book."
"I'm not even certain of what we were sold as the system is so complicated. We were given the hard sell on a promotional holiday in Spain and spent 12 hours being talked into it. There is never availability for what you want, when you want, the maintenance fees are the same as a holiday itself and we just want out!! When I asked about cancelling, she said we could, but all that meant was that we could no longer use the resorts and we wouldn't have to pay the maintenance fees but we would still owe them nearly £15K...who would do that?? Please help! We have now moved to France and are both self employed so we can not longer afford the maintenance fees."
"Can't book anything - and they didn't tell me anything about a maintenance charge."
"Would like advice on our options for getting out of our timeshare contract with Club la Costa."
"No one explained how you book holidays was told we could use our time on short breaks etc then after signing and going on " free" holiday we feel we got dumped paying £4000 for nothing"
"Purchased off peak (blue band), floating week, which excludes all school hols bar Feb half term for £4700 in March 2007, whilst on holiday. Accommodation is a studio apartment in Albufeira, Portugal, with ability to stay at sister locations . In addition, I'm liable for an ongoing yearly maintenance fee which has now risen from £170 at time of signing to over £400. Tried to surrender after husband's death (2014) but company will not allow this to happen and refer to 40 year term of agreement. So far have not paid this year's maintenance fee as cannot afford it from monthly income. Also do not wish to pass this debt to next generation which with over 30 years to run, is highly likely given I'm now 70 years old."
"My children are also on the deeds but I don't want them to be stuck with this in future. Also want to sell fractions as I am now retired and need to cut back on outlays."
"Believe we we're mis-sold. Paid deposit in advance and we were told they would take an existing timeshare off our hands as part of the deal, but this never happened."
"We were pressured into buying points about 16 years ago.its a long story…"
"Tied into to Club La Costa membership and I want out and a refund."
"Converted a week with CLC to points with RCI at additional cost. Want to find a way to cancel."
"We think we truly stuffed by Club La Costa and then even more by RCI points. We should have 251,000 points and have ended with nothing from our substantial investment."
"Have been wanting to get out for years but have been unable too."
"Would like to know how I can get out of the agreement. I am now divorced & have been left with it."
"We signed up in 2015 for a 3 year trial plan on the discover Diamond plan. The stipulation we made at the time of contract is that our 2 week holiday each year would be required as a block booking. We have now tried to book for 12 months time and have been informed there is no availability for any 2 week plans. The head office told us to take it up with the representative, which we have done as we are currently on a resort, however they have advised us they cannot help and head office will need to assist. It seems no one wants to take responsibility for what we were promised at the time of sale. Can you please advise if there is a way we can get the percentage of the money back for our unused weeks."
"Signed up last year, just had our 'free week' and feel very Mis-sold. All they want is money, money, they now tried to sell us more points as we can't have what they promised! Thought we could travel the world, definitely not, very limited options!"
"Bought points 10 years ago and since have been persuaded to increase our points and then change to fractional. We struggle with availability on the dates that suit us and our most used resort, Hustyns in Cornwall, has been closed with no prior notice. We pay an enormous amount of ever increasing maintenance fees every year that are crippling us."
"Please can you advise on a mis-sold one bed apartment at Monte Anfi?"
"I was asked to pay in full within cooling off period. All a scam."
"We bought our timeshare in 2008 whilst on our honeymoon in Las Vegas through Grand View RCI, we were told there were thousands of holiday options in Europe. But nothing we ever wanted was available."
"Originally CLC then persuaded to trade in for RCI Points"
"I have outstanding management fees. A debt management company has been pursuing me. It appears that they are making an offer for me to get out of the contract. Is this just another way of getting more money out of me?"
"Enquiring about my rights as a fractional points owner if I wanted to get out of the contract."
"I have CLC points for 15 years as platinum member and it costs me €2150 per year maintenance. Not been able to use for years due to medical grounds for my son and daughter. Is there any way I can get back some of the £29000 I've paid?"
"I have timeshare points with Diamond Resorts. I am unable be to find Holidays I want and the maintenance fee are expensive and rising. I am seeking advice to get out of this."
"Only purchased last September after a very hard sell. Can never book holidays when I want and can no longer afford it."
"Bought into the points 8 years ago availability is rubbish not what we were promised. Maintenance fees soaring year upon year."
"Purchased in 2002 for £7180 and received nothing in return. I have all paperwork, wonder if you can help?"
"I have a biennial contract (every other year) sold in perpetuity and yet I am being charged a maintenance fee very year. I have queried this but Anfi do not even reply to my e-mails"
"We have 5001 points we no longer wish to continue after 16 years as maintenance is to high and never any availability."
"Paid £500 deposit on day tried to get out of timeshare as husband lost his job but they demanded £1000 maintenance fees before first payment due but still would not let us out of contract, we had trial 3 year clc for 7 holidays we only had 2 then got talked into 15 year fractional time share."
"Paid a deposit whilst on holiday. Then paid a lump sum. Never used it. Had this since Aug 2004. I hope you can help."
"Bought into CLC last year. Just back from another hard sell holiday. Realised after next year we won't get the holidays we want. Yet to inform CLC we want to cancel. Need advice."
"Have owned since the 80's, tried to sell with various companies but no such luck even after paying them to sell it for us... Have been to court over maintenance payment but as Macdonalds rep did not turn up at the hearing it was thrown out of court. The timeshare is in perpetuity and as my husband and I are getting older we worry about it being put on our daughters' backs. I would not wish that on my worst enemy!!"
"I bought into GVC which then changed to sunterra my points were exchanged to 5000, they then changed to DRI, we joined in 1997 not sure what my contract is but 2054 does ring a bell, don't feel we were explained the contract correctly, and like most people have found it hard to get the holiday you want, also the fees have went up from my original payment of 250 a year to now 876."
"Trying to exit Silverpoint - no luck. Not paying RCI anymore either - but they are chasing us."
"I was sold a timeshare in 2004 when I was recovering from the recent death of my husband. Despite numerous requests to sell it almost immediately I have been unsuccessful. I am still paying the fees that this has incurred. It has become quite a burden. Can you help."
"Bought 1990, no cooling off period bought on an 'in perpetuity' basis. Only ever used once (early on) in 26 yrs, but not at our named resort - as it was fully booked/unavailable. Resort given totally unsuitable. Complaint made but not resolved. Now unable through health and financial restraints able to use. Tried unsuccessfully to sell."
"We have been told that the resort is subject of a bank takeover and has new owners, despite numerous phone calls nobody has been able to clarify the situation, although promises to call back, whenever we've phoned always been told the manager is unavailable, and that whoever we're speaking to is only a receptionist and knows nothing due to being new to the job"
"Paid £1000 deposit on the day to Resort Properties as they were at the time. Needless to say they didn't sell the additional weeks we bought and we were left to transfer to a suitable week in bigger apartment."
"Am silver member of Diamond Resorts but after being made redundant nearly a year ago cannot afford maintenance fees and after ploughing £18000 at least since 2013 enough is enough!!!! Advice is required please."
"I had points and was told when I informed I was getting divorced and couldn't afford to keep them, that I had to change to fixed week to be able to sell them. I did this but as management fees were less than half those of points, i have managed to keep the timeshare for a few years. However, last year without my knowledge or agreement. The resort I have been going to changed from a fixed apartment ( which is what my contract says o had bought) to a floating apartment with no guarantee of which apartment I would get. I spoke with the committee member in November as I only found out about this when I arrived at the resort to be told yes we've allocated you apartment xxx. When I first got the timeshare it was an exclusive owned complex. I now find that I can book a week there cheaper by booking.com ot other sites. It is no longer what I bought and as I have taken a massive pay cut I can no longer afford the maintenance. Can someone please help. I am noiw getting letters telling me a debt collector may be assigned . I do not know what to do."
"Bought this over ten years ago and not used it for years due to the yearly fees."
"I just want to be free of my timeshare. I cannot afford the annual maintenance fees."
"Please advise, CLC hounded us into buying into Timeshare in 2012 and got us to sign a financial agreement on the day."
"Parents purchased a timeshare through RCI at Pueblo Evita, Spain around 2001 for £13,000 approx. Father has now died and mother cannot travel so have no use for it. Maintenance fees £800 + each year. Need to get rid!"
"Having cancelled a booking earlier in the year my 'points' that I elected for this year have been placed in a blocked account with very limited use and no availability in Europe at all."
"Bought two weeks floating and used credit card to pay on the day. Later got into arrears with fees and now having to pay £500 each month to catch up ."
"We have 2 independent witnesses who can corroborate everything we were told we have so far paid them in excess of £60,000 for a few off-peak weeks in Tenerife and a week in Las Vegas."
"I traded in my points (which I have had for over 15 years) and paid an extra £7/8K for fractional property as CLC Manager told me I would have something to sell! My children will not want to take over my points when I die - is there any way out? I have been contacted on a regular basis by companies telling me about the new law but don't know who to trust anymore!"
"Destinations club. I wish to cancel but they tell me that I can't."
"I bought into a timeshare in approx 2002 or 2003. I was unable to keep up the payments and went into slight arrears and without warning was served a CCJ. They are still chasing me."
"Bought from GVC and would like to get out of Diamond contract."
"I believe we were been mis-sold this timeshare which we purchased in 2003/2004. I would like to know whether I can make a claim."
"Still paying for this yet never used either of them."
"We feel we have been mis-sold as we can never get a 2 week holiday when we want."
"I've had our Timeshare since 2001, don't use it, can't sell it. Tried 2 companies for sales, paid them in all approx £1000 and heard nothing back except to upgrade the sale for another fee, which I'm not going to do."
"Purchased in May 2000. for £8000 not used since 2004, still being threatened with legal action for back payment of maintenance."
"Enquiring on behalf of my parents. They bought a fractional property in Turkey off plan and now its built it isn't as described at all."
"Bought points through I.C.I. In 2005 and 2006, in perpetuity. Also was told it was points and not timeshare. Paid maintenance fees then this year we were asked for another additional maintenance fee for Sunset Beach Club who had not paid their full tax bill relating to 2009. My husband has refused to pay it since we are not tied into a specific resort. We only bought our points there. RCI who we bought with are threatening us. Could you please advise."
"My husband and I had two weeks timeshare with Olympic Garden City Tenerife, and also points with Divetsity now being paid through RCI. We stopped paying Garden City as we just couldn't afford the maintenance fees which went up and up! Now we are being hounded by RCI and threatened with court for money after money. We've hardly ever used the holidays as we couldn't afford it. Now we've lost the two weeks and our points don't add up to any holidays we want to take when we are able. Lots of money for absolutely nothing. We had to pay for points to change our weeks to points! All seems a big mess we can't get out of."
"Bought into CLC in 2001 since when have been persuaded to increase committment but now find no availability and then Hustyns - our favourite uk stay - is closed without any word from CLC."
"Have tried to sell back as we were told we could back in November 2001. We paid a deposit using a credit card and paid with a loan through our mortgage. I still have all the paperwork"
"Just tried to book again and surprise surprise no availability!"
"We originally bought with GVC in 1999, then changed to Sunterra, then Diamond resorts and now been sold again. Maintenance fees are so high and availability not good. Also worried about our children having to take on the burden (we were unaware that the points would be automatically transferred to them). More and more the availability is with an affiliated resort and we don't get our Silver benefits with them."
"We have been miss sold a fractional membership. Purchased July 2015. Please help us get out of it."
"I bought a timeshare in Albufeira Portugal in 1985/86. We were really pressurised into buying it and used funds from my late father's estate. Is there achance I could claim a refund?"
"We started off with a timeshare in Malta under a 10yr contract which was normally offered to pensioners, financed through First National in 1993. Then we moved to the new POINTS scheme and ended up with a lifetime, in perpetuity contract."
"We originally said we couldn't afford it so was told they could give us a timeshare for every other year. There was no cooling off period. I did not have enough money for the deposit on my credit card. They wanted my partner to go back to our apartment alone to get another credit card. They said we couldn't go back together as they could not hold the offer if we left. I was given a computer to access my bank details. My little boy was ill and had a high temperature on the day so I had to sign multiple documents while holding my son giving me no time to read properly what I was signing."
"I have both points and fractional points in Diamond (now bought by Apollo) and would like to know how I stand. The points are until 1054 but there appears to be no exit date on the fractional contracts, only the "putting them up for sale" in 15 years from the purchase date with no guarantee of sale!"
"We had a timeshare with Nexus at Club Tenerife - they went into administration, but we don't think that it was a fair deal and lost out due to the various underhand tactics by Nexus"
"Keen to know how we can stop our membership due to maintenance costs etc"
"Time to say goodbye to DRI"
"We have had our timeshare for many years and upgraded half way through, we have already paid over €20,000 and only owed 6 months"
"Trying to stop crippling loan and management fees for good by getting rid of missold fraction timeshare from clc. Do not have funds to hire a lawyer."
"We took up the fractional option and feel that we have not been dealt with in an honest way and mislead about the fraction."
"I'm not sure if any of this applies to me . But when we took out the Club La Costa Timeshare we were financially secure we thought we could pay the cost of the Timeshare but after a year the amount that my husband was paying doubled, and my husband was payed off from his job. We never managed to get a holiday out of it, unless you count the ones that we were taken over there by Club La Costa and sold more shares. We are now being pursued by Barclays bank with a totally unreasonable interest rate and quite frankly want to get what we were meant to pay back to get Barclays of of our backs . We are afraid we may lose our home because we foolishly signed up for this . Please could you help?"
"Agreed to time share yesterday signed a number of documents plus bank details had second thoughts going back to see them today to cancel what should I ask for to stop them continuing the process?"
"I have been contacted by a company called Sell My Timeshare who are prepared to offer a valuation for our week in June but to proceed with the process we need to go to Tenerife to meet their consultant to finalise proceedings. Is this a valid company or is this just another scam to get you to Tenerife and try to sell you something more?"
"My dad and his wife need to get out of their timeshare. My dad is now 80 and is paying for something he can no longer use. "
"We cannot afford our fraction or the maintenance,. How do we exit?"
